Mohamed Omar, born 1976, Swedish is a critic, essayist and poet of Swedish-Iranian origin. Omar is the author of three collections of poetry. He was also the editor of the Muslim journal ''Minaret'' from 2006 to 2008. Omar previously described himself as a "radical Muslim" and supporter of the Islamist movements Hamas and Hezbollah, seeing the late Iranian leader Ruhollah Khomeini as a role model for Islamist resistance movements.〔(Expressen, January 9, 2009: ''Gaza har gjort mig radikal'' ) 〕 In an article in the newspaper ''Folket i Bild/Kulturfront'', on 17 July 2012, he withdrew from his Islamist standpoint and retracted his antisemite vindications, saying "I ask for forgiveness for having promoted antisemite ideas".〔("Jag ber om ursäkt för att ha torgfört antisemitiska idéer" )〕 In the publication "En opieätares bekännelser" (''An opium eater's confession''), he develops this new point of view and the reasoning behind it. ==References==
